Your role as a Purchasing Intern
This internship will be focused on our purchasing group and interactions in the supply chain. The intern will work closely with out Tools/Logistics, Purchasing, Pre-Construction, and Job Site Logistics Coordinator. They will get a glimpse into the life of an electrical contractor to see the impact distribution has on our business. This internship should provide great insight on what it takes to service one of the largest contractors in Texas and an opportunity to find ways to make Alterman more efficient. This will be some rotational, but mostly project based internship. Duties and responsibilities may include:
· Work with our Tool and Logistics to optimize warehouse and tools
· Work in purchasing on price analysis and vendor scorecards
· Assist Job Site Logistics Coordinator on field productivity studies and efficient jobsite material management
· Research new ways to optimize our business processes
· Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for new business processes
· Rotate through other departments to help synch communication with purchasing
Minimum Qualifications
• Sophomore status or above
• Strong communication skills
• Attention to detail and organization skills
• Remain calm and focused in a constantly changing environment
• Ability to work within the hours of Monday through Friday between 7:00am-5:00pm
• Hours will vary and can be worked around course schedules.
