Overview:
The BIM Technician II is responsible for leading 1-2 assigned BIM projects, including project setup, BIM team integration, and trade coordination. The BIM Technician II handles more complex aspects of modeling and mentors lower-level BIM Technicians.
Essential Functions
Project Leadership: 10%
• Coordinates, plans, and assigns project tasks to lower-level BIM Technicians.
• Trains and mentors lower-level BIM Technicians.
• Reviews the deliverables assigned to lower-level BIM Technicians.
Model Creation: 85%
• Sets up assigned projects in BIM applications.
• Plans, schedules, and leads the BIM efforts for assigned projects.
• Generates three-dimensional design models of structures and spaces using digital technology such as Revit, Navisworks, and Stratus.
• Creates submittal drawings, internal shop drawings, installation drawings, and prefabrication/manufacturing build sheets or build drawings.
• Gathers robotic total station layout points.
• Updates models and drawings per as-built drawings.
• Processes 3D scans to create and/or verify a model.
• Attends multi-trade BIM Coordination meetings to address and solve any clashes between the models.
• Writes simple Dynamo Scripts.
• Loads models into GTP Stratus.
Administrative Tasks: 4%
• Maintains all assigned design project files and folders.
• Generates and sends Information Confirming Emails to Project Managers.
• Sends Acknowledgement of Request Emails to parties who request drawings or model information.
Other Duties: 1%
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Installation & Planning Manager.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience as a BIM Technician I at Alterman or three years of equivalent industry experience working with Revit is required.
Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Leadership and organizational skills required.
• Able to demonstrate knowledge of basic geometry and able to visualize in 3 dimensions.
• Able to demonstrate basic knowledge of the National Electric Code, including but not limited to, conduit supporting means, materials, and working space requirements when working with electrical equipment.
• Able to read, interpret, and understand contract documents, plans, specifications, and requirements.
• Proficient in or able to learn Blue Beam, Zoom, Teams, Smartsheet, Revit, Navisworks, Procore, Stratus and other related software.
• Able to maintain a working knowledge of the National Electric Code, BIM symbology, and construction safety.
• Able to work well in teams.
• Able to complete continuous education courses and training as required.
Work Environment:
• Office environment with some travel to jobsites required.
Physical Demands:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
