Position: Prevention Services Support Staff - 20 hours/week
Department: Forensic Services
Education: High school graduate, associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: Work experience in a healthcare or human services setting preferred but not required. Prior work in an administrative support role preferred.
Qualifications: Administrative support skills in organizing events, working with the public, managing public relations and marketing of events, developing written and virtual materials to support prevention events and initiatives. Knowledge and skills for managing social media platforms required. May be involved in fundraising efforts for annual events. Strong verbal and written communication skills needed. Adaptable, flexible, dependable and personable. Ability to work with a wide range of professionals and general population in the community. Requires strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize, develop and execute plans effectively and efficiently. Must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals to develop and implement prevention services and events. Able to interact professionally with other community agencies and provide education/ information about agency resources and services. Proficient in Microsoft Office products, and general computer skills.
Immediate Supervisor: Community Prevention Specialist

Position Summary: The Prevention Services Support Staff will provide secretarial and administrative support to the Alternative Paths Prevention Specialist. Prevention work targets the areas of substance use, mental illness, suicide, problem gambling, and crisis intervention. The over-reaching goal of the prevention activities is to reduce the underlying risk factors that increase the likelihood of mental, emotional, and behavioral health disorders and promote protective factors to decrease health disorders. The Prevention Services Support Staff will work closely with the Prevention Specialist to plan/ develop/ attend community events, plan and coordinate educational trainings, help to manage public relations related to prevention work, manage social media, develop marketing materials for prevention work, and provide basic office support. The position will also provide support to the suicide prevention coalition related to event planning, fundraising, scheduling, and helping to carry out coalition initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prevention:
1. Assist the Prevention Specialist in developing education, intervention, and prevention programming for substance use, suicide prevention, mental illness, crisis intervention and problem gambling.
2. Plan, and at times attend events, appropriate to prevention strategies targeted at early intervention, recovery supports, and health promotion.
3. Manage social media platforms to share agency services and prevention information.
4. Provide administrative support for the suicide prevention coalition in areas of conducting meetings, strategic planning, researching funding opportunities, increasing community awareness/ education, event/ activity planning and implementation.
5. Support fundraising and grant seeking activities.
6. Engage in public relations activities and develop marketing materials for prevention efforts.
7. Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
8. Compile and track any data needed to measure outcomes.
9. Seek supervision as needed.
General:
1. Attend agency staff, department, and supervision meetings.
2. Attend professional development in-services and continuing education as required by agency policy. Abide by agency policy and procedures.
