REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of three-years experience working with at-risk youth
- Successful experience in working with children or adolescents and families
- Evidence of experience and/or demonstrated aptitude for working with at-risk juveniles
- Holds or is willing to hold Wyoming PTSB substitute certification
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in special education, counseling, social work, or related field preferred.
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and human relations skills
- Knowledge of community resources
POSITION SUMMARY
To serve as a resource and liaison for students who qualify for special education services between the academic setting, home, and community, to increase attendance, encourage continued school enrollment, and mitigate barriers that can hinder engagement and graduation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be familiar with and abide by school district policies and to stay current in changes in such policies through procedures described by the Board.
- Works with students, staff, parents and guardians for the purpose of evaluating situations, facilitating solution-oriented discussions, and enhancing student success in school
- Mentors students on problem solving, self-advocacy, academic mindset, self-regulation, and persistence
- Collaborates with teams to assist students who qualify for special education services who have dropped out or at risk of dropping out of school for the purpose of providing assistance to help students meet academic requirements for graduation
- Serves as a bridge to connect students, parents, and teachers for the purpose of monitoring and communicating student progress
- Facilitates positive, appropriate, and healthy connections between students and adults within and outside of the school setting so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the child in the school.
- Conduct home visits to meet with parents and students
- Develops and maintains collaborative efforts between schools and community services, business, churches, etc., to work with at-risk students
- Work interactively with Attendance Secretary and the building level attendance officers to document, track and communicate cases of habitual truancy/chronic absenteeism to develop an appropriate plan of assistance or intervention plan
- Maintain confidentiality standards as defined by local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required and participate in relevant training and professional development activities.
- Serve as a Mandt trainer for the district, facilitating staff training on positive behavior supports, conflict prevention, de-escalation techniques, and conflict management strategies.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
- Works independently with little direct supervision
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence.

SALARY SCHEDULE
This position will be paid according to the approved Classified Staff Salary Schedule.
