POSITION FUNCTION / OVERVIEW :
This position is responsible for providing quality nutritional care to our patients. The nutritionist specialist will support our patients develop eating habits that promote healthier lifestyle within their recovery. The nutritionist will work with clinical staff to provide dietary services, nutritional groups and individual meetings with patients. The nutritionist is responsible for consulting in a collaborative fashion with the treatment team to ensure the standard of nutrition and dietary services are achieved from admission through discharge. The overall goal of this position is to enhance the quality of patient care and satisfaction by promoting continuous healthy eating habits.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Promote the mission, values and vision of the organization.
Provide excellent customer service for patients; practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
Meeting with patient in a one-on-one meetings, as needed for consultation
Assess patients nutritional and health needs
Counsel clients on nutrition issues and healthy eating habits
Develop meal and nutrition plans, taking clients' preferences and budgets into account
Evaluate and monitor the effects of nutrition plans and practices and make changes as needed
Promote healthy lifestyles by speaking to individuals and groups about diet, nutrition, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases
Create educational materials about healthy food choices and lifestyle
Keep up with or contribute to the latest food and nutritional science research
Maintain a high level of communication
Manage and maintain schedule to meet productivity and client needs
Effectively utilize technology in fulfillment of job duties
Collaborate with clinical and medical teams for Integrated Care
Be a positive team player and contribute to shared goals for the position / department
Attend all required meetings
Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as requested
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :
Bachelor’s degree in nutritional science, dietetics, or relevant field.
Two (2) years’ experience as a professional nutritionist.
Experience in Substance Abuse, mental health, psychology, or a related field, preferred.
Knowledge of the 12-step program of recovery.
Relevant computer software and hardware applications proficiency – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Electronic Medical Records, Billing Systems and / or other scheduling applications; KIPU preferred.
SKILLS :
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
Manage multiple tasks; ability to work accurately, with attention to detail.
Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
