Job Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a pivotal role in overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care within our facility. This leadership position requires a compassionate and experienced nursing professional who can manage diverse healthcare teams, maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, and foster a culture of excellence in patient care. The DON will be responsible for developing and implementing nursing policies, procedures, and standards that align with best practices in assisted living, acute care, hospice care, home health, and nursing home environments.
Duties
- Lead and manage the nursing department to ensure optimal patient care delivery.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Oversee staff recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Medicare regulations and MDS (Minimum Data Set) requirements.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create individualized care plans for residents.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using appropriate systems.
- Monitor patient outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance care standards.
- Serve as a liaison between families, patients, and healthcare providers to address concerns and improve service delivery.
- Stay updated on medical terminology and industry trends to inform best practices in nursing care.
Experience
- A valid nursing license (RN) is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field is preferred.
- Strong management skills with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively.
- Familiarity with Medicare guidelines and MDS processes is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Proficient in using healthcare systems for documentation and reporting purposes.
