Job Title: Director of Customs Compliance

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Customs Compliance to join our team. This individual must be a Licensed Customs Broker with a strong background in customs regulations and compliance, and the ability to lead initiatives while working onsite at our Chicago office. Occasional travel is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all customs compliance activities, ensuring adherence to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customs-related matters, including audits, classifications, and regulatory updates.
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide compliance programs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Train and mentor staff on customs regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.
- Manage post-entry audits, amendments, and protests to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Monitor and report on key compliance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Stay current with changes in trade policies, tariffs, and customs regulations, providing strategic advice to the company.
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, including CTPAT, AES filings, and Denied Party Screening.
- Represent the company during industry meetings, training sessions, and regulatory forums.
Qualifications
- Must be a Licensed Customs Broker.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs compliance within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, and duty drawback programs.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and customs compliance software.
- Willingness to work onsite daily at the Chicago office and travel occasionally as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).

Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
