Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops strategic tactics and operational plans to increase revenue in the assigned region. Makes recommendations to Corporate Headquarters regarding operational enhancements. Assists in implementing new corporate operating procedures or significant personnel policies within the specific region.
- Negotiates rates with airlines and truckers to optimize profitability of the assigned region, leveraging knowledge of the region’s freight movement.
- Provides exemplary customer service by regularly visiting potential major new clients and maintaining relationships with current customers. Facilitates resolution of significant customer requests or issues and ensures timely follow-up. Collaborates closely with corporate, regional, and local sales staff to drive and support sales initiatives. Attends or authorizes attendance at sales conventions as needed.
- Oversees and approves hiring, promotion, discipline, termination, training, etc. of Branch Managers and Assistant Branch Managers. Conducts personnel evaluations of Branch Managers and approves goal setting. Recommends staffing and salary adjustments to Headquarters after consulting with Branch Managers. Addresses and resolves reported problems concerning branch management and staff. Ensures thorough understanding of Branch staff and operations.
- Requires substantial domestic and potentially international travel, including travel for sales purposes and to Branch locations.
- Monitors revenue and expenses of Branches and service centers, taking proactive measures to improve financial performance and operations as needed. Manages the operating budget of the region, including Branch budgets. Collaborates with Branch managers to set and enhance budgets.
- Consults with senior management and other Regional Vice Presidents to advance organizational goals and objectives.
- Adheres to ISO 9001 quality systems and procedures, as well as the Corporate Compliance Policy of the confidential freight forwarding company.
- Organizes meetings with regional Branches and Managers to foster coordination, cooperation, and mutual success. Participates in Regional Vice President meetings and oversees overseas meetings.
- Submits various reports as required by the EVP (Sales, staffing, budget, etc.).
- Manages Branch Managers within the assigned region, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruitment, training, performance appraisal, rewards, discipline, and conflict resolution.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Over 5 years of experience as a Branch Manager, coupled with significant Sales expertise.
- Excellent knowledge of the confidential freight forwarding company's services, operations, policies, procedures, and government regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to stay updated on new business trends and their practical application to projects.
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills, with a focus on corporate goals and operational management.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a large organization, including enterprise stakeholders, executive teams, client executives, and other key stakeholders.
Salary : $125,000 - $175,000
