Welder / Pipefitter

Job Description

ALTIVIA is seeking a skilled Welder/Pipefitter to support maintenance and construction work at our Dunbar, WV facility. This role involves welding, fabricating, pipe fitting, and installing or repairing various plant structures and equipment.

Duties include:

• Lay out and install metal and non-metal piping systems
• Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings
• Weld on tanks, vessels, structural supports, and piping systems
• Perform SMAW and GTAW welding on stainless and carbon steel
• Produce welds that meet NDE (non-destructive examination) standards
• Assist in the repair and installation of pumps, tanks, cooling towers, piping, and other plant systems
• Troubleshoot pressure leaks and mechanical issues
• Bend pipe by hand or with tools/machines
• Secure pipes using clamps, hangers, and brackets
• Perform carpentry and scaffold work as needed
• Complete tasks safely, following all plant procedures and safety protocols

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Prior experience as a combination welder, carpenter, or scaffold builder in an industrial setting
• Ability to work from blueprints and piping diagrams
• Familiar with standard trade tools and safety practices
• Comfortable working in a team or independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
• Must be able to work in outdoor or industrial environments (heat, cold, noise, dust)
• Must be able to wear required PPE, including respirators, steel-toe boots, gloves, etc.
