Responsibilities
Perform shift change or opening duties at the bar area, including checking inventory and restocking supplies. Receive instructions from the chef on daily specials and from the hostess or manager on functions and parties. Prepare work such as washing glassware and slicing fruit garnishes ahead of time. Keep the bar area clean and stocked throughout the shift.
Key Duties
Acknowledge guests with a greeting, take cocktail orders, and recite daily specials. Check customer identification to ensure age requirement is met. Take food orders for bar customers and answer questions about the menu or specials. Prepare standard drinks and pour wine and beer according to patrons' requests.
Familiarity with Menu and Systems
Maintain a strong knowledge of lunch, dinner, brunch, and seasonal menus as well as dessert and drink special menus. Familiarize yourself with the POS system to place orders correctly and efficiently. Communicate clearly with kitchen and front-of-house personnel to ensure a positive guest experience.
Closing Duties
Responsible for monitoring guest alcoholic intake and cutting off customers if they appear intoxicated. Present checks to guests when they are ready to leave and provide accurate change. Complete assigned closing duties such as restocking, cleaning, and turning off lighting.
