Position Overview: As a vCIO, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic IT direction for our clients. You will collaborate with our clients to understand business objectives, assess existing IT infrastructure, and formulate solutions aligned with their organizational goals. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with clients ranging from 20 to 500 employees in various industries.
The vCIO will work closely with the security, technology and project teams to ensure that our clients’ technology and support needs are met with the excellent customer service and technological acumen that are at the core of our mission statement.
The vCIO brings excellent communication and relationship building with clients to promote recommended technology changes and improvements, retain clients, mine internal sales opportunities and obtain referrals.
Responsibilities:
Strategic IT Planning:
- Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives and challenges
- Formulate comprehensive IT strategies to address client needs and enhance organizational efficiency
- Prepare customized proposals to present to clients
Technology Assessments:
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients' current IT infrastructure and systems
- Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions to optimize technology investments
Risk Management:
- Assess cybersecurity risks and implement measures to enhance data security
- Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance
- Interface with our vCISO to ensure standardization of our security offerings
Vendor Management:
- Evaluate and manage relationships with technology vendors to ensure they delivery of high-quality services
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to maximize value for clients
- Budgeting and Resource Allocation:• Work closely with clients to develop and manage IT budgets
- Allocate resources efficiently to support technology initiatives and projects
Project Management:
- Oversee the implementation of IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards
- Provide guidance to project teams and ensure effective communication with clients
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance on technology-related matters
- Prepare and present quarterly business reviews (QBRs) for select clients.
- Track our recommendations as opportunities, present proposals, and ensure clients are aware of risks associated with delaying implementations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a vCIO or similar role at an MSP or IT consulting company
- Experience in leading technology teams
- In-depth knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and emerging technologies
- Proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing server infrastructures
- Knowledge of various server platforms (e.g., Windows Server, Azure Cloud) and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Proficiency in designing and managing network infrastructures
- Understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, and other network security components
- Expertise in cloud migration strategies and managing hybrid cloud environments
- Expertise with Microsoft 365, Azure cloud services
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and risk management
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interactions
- Familiarity with financial services and/or legal services is a plus
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or ITIL is a plus
- Preferably located in commutable distance to New York City
- Remote option is available for those in the broader NorthEast area (Toronto, Washington DC, Connecticut, Boston, Philadelphia)
- Required travel of ~1x per month if remote
