The Lab Technical Specialist supports the service area in both an operational and technical capacity and is responsible for duties fundamental to service area support and success, including regulatory compliance, technical process, personnel competency, quality improvement and budget assistance and resource utilization. Under the leadership of the Supervisor, this position exercises initiative and is delegated the authority to act in the best interest of the service area. The Lab Technical Specialist employs independent judgement related to operations and service delivery.Essential Job Functions:
Assists the Supervisor in ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory agency standards. Performs a variety of quality assurance activities related to testing, equipment and process that ensure the highest quality outcomes.
Provides input and support to the Supervisor in the development and implementation of service area goals and indicators and actively participates in achieving positive outcomes.
Assists with equipment and test method assessment and selection. Performs equipment/method/ software validation. Assists with all phases of the implementation process.
Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Investigates and troubleshoots variances and problems, documents corrective actions, and participates in achieving positive outcomes.
Supports staffing, orientation, and competency programs.
Manages assigned projects. Compiles data and prepares thorough, accurate, and timely reports and documentation as required.
Functions as a technical and operational resource to coworkers, providers, and other customers.
Assumes responsibility of service area oversight and daily operations in the absence of the Supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
