The Cardiac Sonographer produces images of heart muscle and functioning by setting-up ultrasound equipment, operating and adjusting equipment, recording cardiac data and measurements, and protecting and helping patients. This position assists with trans esophageal cardiograms, dobutamine stress test and other procedures as needed. The technologist identifies pertinent clinical information and communicates this to the physician.

The Cardiac Sonographer produces images of heart muscle and functioning by setting-up ultrasound equipment, operating and adjusting equipment, recording cardiac data and measurements, and protecting and helping patients. This position assists with trans esophageal cardiograms, dobutamine stress test and other procedures as needed. The technologist identifies pertinent clinical information and communicates this to the physician.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Identify cardiac anatomy according to age of patient, as well as, cardiac anomalies, heart disease and pertinent clinical information and communicate this to the cardiologist.
- Assist the cardiologist with patient exams and identify any changes of patient clinical circumstances which may alter the exam protocol and performance.
- Perform computer analysis and demonstrate competency in making quantitative calculations of echo data. Review echocardiograms for quality and completeness and cardiologist's preference.
- Collect and review all required clinical information prior to performing exams and communicate information to the physician and co-workers, i.e., patient history, pertinent symptoms, etc. Ensure that a written physician order is received prior to an exam performance and review charts to ensure that proper exams are performed.
- Provide education appropriate to patient procedure and within scope of responsibility.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
- Sonographer | North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board of Examiners | Prior to Start Date
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) | American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) | Within 18 Months of Start Date
- Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 Days of Start Date
- Temporary ND license accepted prior to start
- Associates - Cardiac Sonographer- OR - Associates - Related Field
- A minimum of 1 year Related Experience
