Responsibilities:
- Conduct meticulous microscopic examinations on specimens, accurately identifying cells using established cytologic criteria.
- Develop and prepare provisional diagnoses for all cases referred to the supervisor or pathologist, ensuring accurate documentation according to standard operating procedures.
- Communicate specimen acceptability and unacceptability issues to caregivers in a timely manner, utilizing clear and concise documentation.
- Assist in collecting fine needle aspirates following standard operating procedures.
- Demonstrate initiative and judgment in investigating and resolving QC failures, informing next-level authorities as necessary, and documenting all actions taken.
- Prepare final diagnoses using established cytologic terminology for specimens reported as within normal limits.
- Maintain clear and accurate specimen identification throughout the analytical process.
- Possess Cytotechnologist (CT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 12 months of the start date.
- Meet CLIA education and experience standards for Cytotechnologists.
