This is an exciting opportunity for a cytotechnologist to work with gynecological and non-gynecological samples, assisting the pathologist with fine needle aspirates and performing microscopic examinations.

Certification Requirements:
The successful candidate must obtain Cytotechnologist (CT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 12 months of starting date and meet CLIA education and experience standards for Cytotechnologist. An official transcript and/or diploma must be on file. Employee obtaining CT certification after January 1, 2004, will be required to demonstrate evidence of ongoing maintenance of certification.
Work Experience:
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 1 year of related experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cytology and excellent communication skills. The position requires occasional standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and handling/finger/feel activities. The working conditions are indoor, with no outdoor exposure. The driving requirement for this position is infrequent driver.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $32.19 - $48.28 and a sign-on bonus of $7,500 available.

Key Responsibilities:
The Cytologist will be responsible for:
- Performing microscopic examinations on gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, differentiating and identifying all cells on the slides using established cytologic criteria.
- Detecting, selecting, and clearly marking cells most representative of pathological processes present, and preparing a provisional diagnosis for all cases referred to the cytology supervisor or pathologist.
- Interpreting acceptability of specimens received for testing, communicating correct specimen collection and transport requirements, and specimen unacceptability issues to caregivers in a timely manner, ensuring documentation is completed according to standard operating procedure.
- Assisting in the collection of Fine Needle Aspirates following standard operating procedure.
- Exercising initiative and judgment in investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving QC failure, informing next-level authority as necessary, and documenting all actions taken.
