The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in evaluating and treating patients, ensuring compliance with licensure standards. As part of an interdisciplinary team, the therapist contributes to patient goal development, care planning, and identifying barriers to discharge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Orienting patients, family, and other parties to therapy evaluation and treatment procedures, providing education and support relevant to their needs.
- Selecting and performing evaluation and treatment methods tailored to the patient's age, diagnosis, symptoms, and physician orders, documenting according to chart review standards.
- Coordinating treatment schedules with disciplines using scheduling procedures.
- Monitoring program effectiveness and outcomes, initiating new programs and developing new strategies.
- Conducting pain assessments and taking appropriate action as per standard operating procedure.
- Obtaining and documenting required patient information, including precautions, orders, and initial plan of care.
- Participating in inter-disciplinary teams to develop accurate discharge plans.
- Reporting significant changes in patient condition and taking actions through reporting, staffing consultations, and documentation.
- Providing clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) collaboratively following state licensure and care delivery standards.
- Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) certification from North Dakota State Board of Occupational Therapy or Minnesota Board of Occupational Therapy Practice prior to start date.
- Driver's License with Acceptable Driving Record
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association within 90 days of start date.
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
