Job Description:
The Interventional Radiology Technologist demonstrates an understanding of their scope of responsibility within their license. They properly identify patients, set up for procedures, and clean rooms after procedures. The technologist confirms, reviews, and prepares orders with correct coding for Physicians.
Duties include discussing patients' histories, educating patients about exams, and ensuring inpatients are properly identified using Altru standards. The technologist also prepares and administers contrast under the direction of a Physician, performs pain assessments, and takes appropriate action.
In addition, the technologist sets up and prepares exam rooms, maintains room supplies, and prepares Physician fee slips by coding specific procedures. They stay up-to-date on charging CPT coding systems and complete charges for exams in Epic and PACS.
