Summary:
As a Personal Assistant III, you will be responsible for providing compassionate care and support to an individual with disabilities. Your primary duty will be to assist the client with daily activities, ensure their safety and well-being, and follow their specific care plan.
Essential Functions:
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Provide physical support with transferring and positioning using a Hoyer Lift, gait belt, or other transfer equipment. Must be able to safely lift and assist with repositioning a non-ambulatory individual.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding (including G-tube feeding if trained), and medication reminders per care plan.
- Support stretching exercises and assist with equipment usage for an individual with cerebral palsy (CP).
- Engaging the client in meaningful activities and social interactions.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Monitor client for any changes in health or behavior and report concerns to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for the clients.
- Follow care plans and instructions provided by supervisors.
- Document client activities and any significant observations or incidents.
- Drive or accompany the client to community locations as needed.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work may in indoors or outdoors. Employees may be exposed to adverse weather conditions while performing duties outside. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical demands: Must have good hearing and sight, including good depth perception, color vision, close vision, distant vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, turn, walk, climb, crouch, stand, and kneel. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 70-75 pounds.
Position Type and expected hours of work: Regular attendance is critical to business operations. This position may be full-time or part-time with days of operation are 7 days a week Sunday through Saturday. Hours of operation are 24hrs. Shifts may be weekdays or weekends, Morning, Afternoon or Evening. Overtime may be expected with prior authorization.
Travel: This specific assignment does not require travel. However, employees must maintain valid driving credentials and reliable transportation for potential future assignments within a 30-mile radius.
Required Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of California, in good standing.
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
3. Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
4. Reliable transportation to travel to client locations.
5. Must have a current, unrestricted, valid California Driver’s License (required for employment, though this particular assignment does not require travel)
6. CPR and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
7. Must have reliable means of communication, i.e., home phone, cell phone.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to Lift and/or move 70-75 lbs
- Knowledge in the use of manual transfer aids such as gait belts and use of mechanical lifts such as hoyer lift.
- Experience with G-tube feeding and following dietary guidelines; however, training can be provided for the right person
- Experience in performing stretching exercises to maintain flexibility and prevent contractures; however, training can be provided for the right person.
Additional Requirement:
Due to the nature of this position, it will be required to undergo a criminal background check and driving record check.
