Position Title: Academic Program Coordinator – Secondary Coordinator
Reports To: Principal

Overview:

The Academic Program Coordinator plays a pivotal leadership role across grades 6–12, ensuring that curriculum, instruction, and assessment are aligned to the Idaho State Content Standards and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) frameworks. This individual supports teacher development through strategic professional learning, curriculum alignment, and data-informed instructional planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Alignment, Selection & Implementation

  • Lead alignment of curriculum to Idaho State Standards and IB MYP frameworks across grade levels and content areas.
  • Identify, adopt, and support implementation of high-quality curriculum that promotes inquiry, rigor, and instructional-level access.
  • Ensure vertical alignment and content coherence.

Instructional Support & Professional Development

  • Design and deliver professional learning on:
  • Higher-order questioning and conceptual thinking
  • Inquiry-based instructional design
  • IB unit planning and assessment practices
  • Effective implementation of curriculum resources
  • Instructional-level grouping and small-group instruction
  • Lead interdisciplinary collaboration and planning aligned to IB programme models and Alturas' charter goals.

Assessment Leadership & Data Analysis

  • Provide leadership for schoolwide assessment systems, including:
  • Internal Assessments (IAs)
  • Extended Essays (EEs)
  • MAP Growth and STAR Renaissance benchmarks
  • Support teachers in using data to identify trends, differentiate instruction, and create instructional action plans.

Diploma Programme Coordination Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the official IB Coordinator, ensuring full compliance with IB Organization (IBO) policies, practices, and standards.
  • Oversee course offerings, scheduling, and staffing, ensuring adherence to IB requirements.
  • Monitor student course loads, graduation tracks, and exam registration.
  • Act as the primary liaison with the IBO, ensuring the school maintains authorization and meets ongoing evaluation and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and submit all documentation related to IB authorization, evaluation, and teacher training.
  • Support and train teachers on curriculum planning, assessment criteria, and IB instructional best practices.

Charter-Aligned Instructional Practices

  • Uphold the core instructional principles of the Alturas Academy charter:
  • Instructional-level, small-group teaching
  • Student collaboration and leadership
  • Inquiry-based, real-world learning
  • Academic personalization in a rigorous context
  • Ensure integration of the IB Learner Profile and Leader in Me principles across academic and leadership programming.

Collaboration & School Culture

  • Serve as a core member of the academic leadership team, collaborating on school improvement planning, data reviews, and strategic development.
  • Work closely with the Principal and CEO to ensure school initiatives and instruction align with network priorities and the mission of the charter.
  • Promote a growth-oriented culture among staff and students focused on high expectations, equity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Idaho Teaching Certificate; curriculum or administrative endorsement preferred.
  • 5 years of successful secondary teaching experience, preferably within an MYP context.
  • Proven expertise in curriculum alignment, assessment systems, and teacher development.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • Secondary Teaching: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Curriculum development: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Idaho teaching certificate (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Idaho Falls, ID 83402: Relocate before starting work (Required)
