Title: CMM Programmer
Department: Quality
FLSA Status: Salary Exempt
Reports To: Quality Manager
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
Under the general direction of the Quality Manager, this position effectively manages, supervises and plans day-to-day operations and all related activities for the Metrology Lab. Responsible for the oversight of producing dimensionally correct cast iron castings to meet customer specifications and requirements. Ensures workforce completes all job duties in a safe and cost-efficient manner. Responsible for the overall safety of employees, meeting departmental budgets, and maintaining departmental cost effectiveness.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Supervises 3-5 Employees
- Perform lay requirements
- Familiar with blueprint reading
- Familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Able to assist in problem solving various molding issues with dimensional data
- Identifying and containing suspect parts
- Work with the metrology team members to enhance their overall metrology knowledge
- Required to follow other instructions and to perform other duties as required by Quality Engineers and Quality Manager
- Put together PPAP packages to include dimensional reports, CPKs, G R&R and other required documentation
- When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques that are helpful in enhancing the overall Metrology job function
- Ability to communicate problems and issues to management and other members of the Quality Department
CMM
- Programming CMM’s with new jobs as needed utilizing PC-DMIS
- Make changes to existing programs.
- Design CMM holding fixtures for new jobs
- Primary liaison with vendors on calibration and repair of CMMs
- Running daily checks per customer and company requirements.
FARO Laser Scanner
- Must be familiar with the FARO Laser Scanner system utilizing Geo-magic software
- Must be familiar with 3D CAD models
Gages
- Design and develop Inspection gages for new programs
- Manage the maintenance/repair of the production gages
Calibrations
- Maintain the calibration records for all gages and measuring instruments that are utilized in the facility
- Must be familiar with the Gage-Trak software
Requirements

- Excellent written & verbal communication skills & the ability to transfer information digitally & present it clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work in a team environment and lead by example
- Computer (PC) skills are required including MS Office Suite
- Ability to coach and develop employees
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Associate Degree with 3-5 years of experience in metrology operations
- Proven ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) at all levels of the organization.?
- Willing to work extended hours, holidays, and weekends as required.
- Capable of working effectively in a dynamic team environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- This person works in a fast-paced environment and must be able to make timely decisions and communicate directives to ensure efficient use of resources. The nature of the automotive industry results often in changing priorities, and the candidate must be able to adjust as required to allow them to meet required expectations.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Must be able to periodically operate in a manufacturing environment with loud noises, dust in the air, forklift traffic, hot & cold temperatures
