JOB SUMMARY: A Purchasing Agent, or Product Purchasing Agent, finds and purchases products for a company to use or resell. Their duties include locating suppliers, researching goods, services and materials and processing purchasing orders. Their duties include researching raw materials suppliers and comparing costs, negotiating purchase agreements and developing inventory controls to identify demand for new materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluating suppliers by considering price, quality, availability and other criteria
Interviewing vendors and visiting suppliers’ facilities to learn about products, services and pricing
Negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company
Verifying purchases by comparing them to a master list and recommending alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products
Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors
Authorizing payments and maintain receipts, records and inventories
Attend industry trade shows to learn about and stay current on trends and to meet suppliers
Take requests for parts from all levels of employees
Follow up on pending orders
Enter Requisitions and convert to PO’s
Evaluate purchasing spend quarterly with goal of reducing cost by reducing amount of PO’s issued and vendor / purchased item consolidation for better purchasing power
Work with outside vendors on VMI programs, vending machines and other viable options for managed inventory
Ensure adherence to APP’s policies and procedures, including our code of conduct and ethics policy, product safety, employee safety and cultural beliefs.
Compensation: $25 - $35 an hour. This is the lowest to highest hourly rate we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
