Tooling Engineer

North Star Company is a premium roll forming company on the west coast. We are currently in search of an experienced Tooling Engineer for our manufacturing facility in Gardena, California. In this position, you will play a hands-on role in the design and development of tooling as well as servicing and care for existing tooling. We prefer that our candidates have earned a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related field), significant professional experience in manufacturing and design, as well as substantial mathematics / problem solving abilities.

Responsibilities :

Designing tooling, jigs, and fixtures according to part prints and schematics
Conducting tests for dimensions and tolerances for finished pieces
Development and refinement of finished product with different tooling processes
Effectively communicating tooling requirements and objectives to sales and production personnel

Requirements & Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) recommended

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T) training recommended

Significant experience in designing and tooling parts in a professional manufacturing environment

Math and problem-solving capability

Basic drafting software competency

Ability to read and interpret part prints and schematics

Roll Forming & Punch Press tooling experience - HIGLY DESIRED

Your role with the company :

Conducts all activities in designing, building, and modifying new and existing roll form tooling as well as pre-punch and cut off dies

Managing die drawings and data in correlation to our customers’ part design requirements

Managing tool life performance

Overseeing tool shop schedules, quality, and production

Collaborating with tool room and other internal groups in order to manage tooling from initial designs through the tool build, as well as roll form trials for new and existing programs in an effort to maximize tooling efficiency and lifespan

Purchasing and tooling inventory management duties

Die component inventory management

Salary :
