GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

As the engineered solutions Buyer, you will review, evaluate, plan, and handle the day to day buying and sourcing of materials for the engineered solutions group, to ensure a high-level of quality, accuracy, and delivery to meet the production schedule and customer needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:A. Optimal purchasing & production flow to meet Customer & Business Goals: 100% of the job

1. Orders raw materials, through Purchase Orders, from existing and new suppliers to meet production and inventory needs for the engineered solutions group.

2. As needed or directly assigned will work with Procurement manager to help source/set up new or alternative suppliers, or manage existing suppliers to ensure a consistent, quality supply of materials.

3. Monitors materials in-process to ensure accurate ordering and delivery dates are achieved; expedites materials as needed.

4. Monitors and evaluates vendor performance and leads/assists in resolving quality, delivery, and billing issues timely and effectively.

5. Participates in training and related events to foster productivity and process improvement within the department or cross-functional areas.

6. Reviews, updates, and enhances processes and systems to continually increase the effectiveness of the department.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A. Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, or a related field; will consider a combination of education and experience.

B. Experience: 3 years of direct buying or purchasing experience, within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

C. Certifications: APICS Certification preferred but not required.

D. Functional Skills: Strong ability to research and evaluate vendor/material options for optimal results. Possesses strong math skills. Excellent organization, prioritization, planning, and follow-through skills, with great attention to detail. Highly analytical with the ability to gather information and make decisions timely and effectively; has a strong sense of urgency. Able to problem-solve and suggest enhancements.

E. Technology Skills: Strong ability with technology and ERP systems; proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel (highly advanced in Excel).

F. Language Skills: Solid verbal and written skillset.

G. Leadership/Behaviors: Self-motivated, can work independently to achieve the goals of the position. Strong customer focus and quality focus. Collaborative with an excellent ability to build and maintain positive relationships within the company and with vendors is essential. Strong conceptual skills to figure things out and suggest efficiencies along the way.
