Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Vice President of Global Marketing will play a key role in building and leading the global marketing function. As part of the commercial leadership team, they will help shape the vision, structure, talent, and operations of the cross-functional commercial organization. The VP will align global and country teams on the strategic launch plans for candidates in the pipeline, starting with ESK-001, a highly selective tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2) inhibitor, which has the potential to set a new standard of care for the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, as well as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

This high-visibility role involves working closely with teams across the company, including Program Executives, Medical Affairs, Legal, Manufacturing, Advocacy, Finance, and more. The VP will help drive strategies in areas such as Marketing, Patient Support, Market Access, Distribution, Advocacy / Health Policy, and Field Strategy. As a key member of the Commercial team, they will contribute to the broader commercial product strategy for the Alumis portfolio.

The preference for this role is to be located at our South San Francisco headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Create and communicate a competitive, integrated launch plan for ESK-001 to enhance patient diagnosis, access, and adherence to treatment.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative market data to generate a deeper understanding of the customer’s needs, brand and disease issues, and market potential, including identifying target and emerging audiences, gaps in current data, and refining strategies.
  • Develop and initiate market research to support strategic decision-making.
  • As different teams are onboarded, coordinate the activities and resource planning of the global Market Access, Market Research, Patient Advocacy, and Medical groups to align the global strategy and execution of the launch plan.
  • Develop and effectively communicate core branding, marketing messages, and product positioning statements.
  • Build strong relationships with global KOLs, patient advocacy groups, and key customers to identify customer needs and drive commercial development.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive and proficient understanding of indications of interest, current market dynamics, and play a key role in decision-making across the portfolio.
  • Possess a solid understanding of the differences in healthcare and reimbursement environments in various countries. Provide direction on launch sequences across the globe.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, including global Medical, Clinical, Regulatory, Market Access, Legal, and country teams, to drive business decisions and projects.
  • Respond to and support the needs of internal and external customers. Consult proactively with key stakeholders to ensure proper pull-through of messaging and marketing campaigns and sharing of best practices.
  • Analyze data, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to advise the country teams and cross-functional leadership of progress or gaps in targets and goals.
  • Oversee global product demand forecasts to Manufacturing.
  • Manage the global brand marketing budget, individual project budgets, and develop annual and long-range sales and expense forecasts. Advise on annual planning, priority setting, and budget allocation. Monitor business results against stated objectives and initiate corrective actions.
  • Manage, coordinate, and serve as a role model and mentor to the product marketing teams, and delegate / allocate work as required.
  • Work independently as a leader and exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments with agreed objectives and scope.

Must-Have Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred.
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, including at least 5-7 years in senior marketing and 5-7 years in senior sales leadership roles (including second-line leadership).
  • Substantial experience in product strategic planning, including developing differentiated brand positioning and messaging, as well as deep in-line experience, both pre-launch and post-launch.
  • Robust dermatology launch experience is required; multiple sclerosis (MS) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive successful product launches and deliver results in competitive markets.
  • Experience building teams and commercial capabilities is required.
  • Existing relationships with key customers are highly valued (e.g., KOLs, key account leadership, I&I societies, GPOs, etc.).
  • Must be a true team player—authentic, humble, able to build a positive team spirit, and lead through the ups and downs of drug development. Must put the success of the team above personal interests and support the growth and development of others.
  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify and interpret complex issues and provide appropriate recommendations to senior management and across functional areas, including key market planning insights based on epidemiological data and market research.
  • Previous experience attracting, developing, and retaining high-caliber leaders and contributors who help build and shape the business to drive the future success of the organization.
  • Strong developmental leader who leverages this skill set to create a high-performing organization.
  • Ability to travel as required to meet business needs.
  • The salary range for this position is $325,000 USD to $345,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.

    This position is located in South San Francisco, CA and employees are expected to be onsite Tuesday-Thursday.
