Activity Coordinator – Mental Health Residential Program
Full-Time, Direct Placement
Are you passionate about improving lives and making a positive impact in mental health? We are seeking an Activity Coordinator to develop and implement engaging social and recreational activities that enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being of clients in a residential mental health program.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate activities such as exercise, arts and crafts, games, nature studies, and social events to promote client well-being.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to design activities that meet the unique needs and capabilities of each client.
- Coordinate excursions, entertainment, and volunteer involvement by liaising with external agencies.
- Manage activity resources, including supply inventory, equipment maintenance, and billing.
- Document client progress and responses to activities for review by the treatment team.
- Safely transport clients to off-site activities using the program vehicle.
- Facilitate group discussions on education, vocational interests, independent living skills, and health topics.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, ensuring client safety and securing medical attention when necessary.
- Maintain client confidentiality and a professional, supportive environment.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma required, with at least 2 years of college coursework in Recreation, Behavioral Sciences, or related fields preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months in a recreational or mental health setting.
- Skills: Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to assess and intervene in challenging situations.
Requirements
- Valid California Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
- DOJ, FBI, and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
- TB clearance.
- Certifications: First Aid, CPR, and Fire and Safety Training (to be completed within 180 days of hire).
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training (to be completed within 30 days of hire).
Schedule
- Sun-Thurs (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Tues-Sat (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Compensation
$22.06/hr.
$23.06/hr. (Bilingual Spanish)
