DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Environmental Services, the Environmental Services Technician I is responsible for the following :
- Cleaning and maintaining buildings / facilities. Performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, spot clean carpets, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships.
- Complying with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards.
- Environmental Services Technician I must be flexible and willing to complete all tasks that are assigned.
- Clean building floors by sweeping mopping, scrubbing, shampooing, or vacuuming. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Use ladders, dust and wash furniture, walls, machines, and equipment; clean ceilings and dust and polish light fixtures. Wash and replace blinds.
- Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks.
- Remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
- Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
- Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
- Clean and vacuum carpeted areas, including application of spot cleaning treatment.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms and pantries, break rooms, Café & mothers' rooms.
- Periodically clean overhead vents, dust blinds, and polish wood furniture.
- Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Maintain building security and safety by locking doors after operating hours.
- Check electrical appliances use to ensure that hazards are not created.
- Drive vehicles to perform cleaning work, company vehicles and golf carts.
- May be expected to make basic repairs.
- Any other duties as required to ensure Health Plan operations and department business needs are successful.
