Position Overview

This position will develop and evaluate new methodologies for detection of serum antibodies directed against SARS CoV-2 (COVID-19)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform accurate case identification.
• Perform advanced laboratory testing includes confirmation and relatedness.
• Perform testing to evaluate the changing epidemiology of disease.
• Provide regulatory compliance support.
• Draft manuscripts to be submitted to peer reviewed journals.
• Implement Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and protocols;
• Standardize protocols and reports across division activities;
• Study requirements, resources, equipment and supply needs as related to QMS and CLIA;
• Assist in implementing CDC’s Specimen Management policy.
• Prepare written documents, reports, and analyses of various scientific projects and programs related to QMS or CLIA
• Prepare manuscripts as related to the work.
• Prepare presentations as related to the work.
• Participate in laboratory group meetings to discuss research findings.
• Perform sero detection assays to detect antibodies directed against COVID 19
• Evaluate pseudovirus neutralization assays against COVID 19
• Participate in burden of disease studies of respiratory virus outbreaks, sporadic cases and birth cohorts.
• Lead studies to evaluate novel diagnostic platforms for the detection of respiratory viruses; and
• Perform all tasks in accordance with CDCs biosafety policies and quality management policies.
• Evaluate serological detection of respiratory virus specific antibodies and determine their sensitivity.
• Serve as lead or co-author on output from projects and studies leading to scientific publications and presentations at scientific meetings.

• Must have at least 2-4 years of experience.
• Bachelors of Science in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry or related sciences.
• Must have experience in whole genome sequencing.
