Alva Manufacturing is a fast-growing Aerospace Machine Shop located in city of Placentia currently supplying parts to Boeing Defense, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and many more. We utilize the latest technologies including 5-Axis Milling, Multi-Axis Turning, and Automated-Pallet Changing/Lights-out Production systems, CMM Inspection equipment. Most of the products that we build here are flying to Space and to Mars.

Description:
The Quality Control Mechanical Inspector is responsible for performing critical inspections on CNC machined items. The tools used for these inspections will be Precision hand tools, Surface Plate Inspection, and traditional mechanical inspection tools such as CMM, Optical Comparator, Height Gage, Calipers, and Micrometers. It is important that the Mechanical Inspector be able to perform diligent, careful inspections with efficiency. Alva currently has CMM Inspection tools utilizing Hexagon CMM, Romer Arm, Keyence CMM, and Keyence Vision Machine. We are willing to train the right candidate to learn CMM operation and programming skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Careful review of drawings, data, and engineering and customer requirements for inspection goals.
- Surface plate set up for dimensional verification.
- Mechanical inspection of parts, purchased hardware.
- Receiving inspection, First Article Inspection, In Process Inspection, and Final inspection documentation and using the AS9102 Format.
- Calibration and maintenance of inspection tools, equipment, and areas.
- Support tasks such as careful handling of hardware to and from the QA Inspection area.
- Adherence to company and customer specifications, work instructions, engineering prints and work orders.
- Reviewing documentation of the materials and processes used for quality assurance to maintain traceability of products.
- Approves in-process production by conducting visual and dimensional inspections, communicating required adjustments to production supervisors.
- Documents inspection results by completing inspection reports and logs.
- Keep measurement equipment operating by following the operating instructions, notify Quality Manager if repairs are needed.
- Initial or sign and date all documents and inspection reports.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong knowledge of Mechanical Inspection tools
- Education: High school diploma or GED required
- Trained in the non-conforming material procedure.
- Knowledge of safety management and manufacturing method and procedures.
- Ability to use the appropriate measuring and testing equipment.
- Ability to properly interpret and apply GD&T to drawings per the requirements of ANSI Y14.5.
- In-depth understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Knowledgeable of both Alva Manufacturing’s quality policy and QMS policy
- Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in English.

- Strong trouble-shooting skills and the ability to think critically.
