The primary responsibility of a school counselor is to counsel and advocate for all students to fully develop their personal, social, academic, and career abilities. A school counselor works alongside school faculty / staff, students, parents, and community to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at the assigned school.
Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
Master's degree in Counseling
Valid Texas school counseling certificate
Minimum three years of creditable years of teaching experience
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Knowledge of school counseling procedures, social / emotional learning, student academic and career development. Child behavior management and emotional regulation techniques.
Other Skills and Abilities Required :
Maintain positive and professional communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal) Maintain professional and emotional composure
