Culinary Arts I The Hospitality and Tourism Career Cluster focuses on the management, marketing, and operations of restaurants and other food/beverage services, lodging, attractions, recreation events, and travel-related services. - Culinary Arts begins with the fundamentals and principles of the art of cooking and the science of baking and includes management and production skills and techniques. Students can pursue a national sanitation certification or other appropriate industry certifications. This course is offered as a laboratory-based course. - Students are encouraged to participate in extended learning experiences such as career and technical student organizations and other leadership or extracurricular organizations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Option 1:
1. a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
2. And one of the following teaching certifications listed below:
a. Trade & Industrial 6-12 Or
Option II
1. a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
2. two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes, you will be teaching Or
Option III
1. an associates' degree from an accredited institution
2. two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes, you will be teaching Or
Option IV
1. a high school diploma or equivalent
2. five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes, you will be teaching
(Eligible military experience may be used in lieu of civilian experience; your EPP will review for
eligibility)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge of culinary curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Maintain program records
Establish and maintain industry partnerships for student internships and guest speakers
