Description
Assists the Occupational Therapist in administering the Occupational Therapy program to facilitate the rehabilitation of people with physical and or psychosocial disabilities. The Occupational Therapist Assistant works with the patients administering selected activities, treatments to restore, re enforce and correct pathology to promote and or maintain good health. Essential duties include, Performs effective treatment techniques in a competent manner. Educates patient, family, caregiver in applicable treatment and prevention. Participates in the discharge planning process. Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc. Requires treatment skills necessary to provide Occupational Therapy appropriate to the developmental and chronological age of patients on caseload. Objectivity, good time management and interpersonal skills. Must be physically, cognitively and perceptually able to provide patient treatment and able to assist in physical mobility of patients and equipment.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Can be awaiting Ohio licensure status of Limited Permit
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to :
- Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist (OT) provides patient care services which have been delegated by the Occupational Therapist.
- Under the direction of the OT assists in evaluation and development of the rehabilitative plan of care and in periodic re-evaluation as required.
- Participates in the preparation of clinical and daily progress notes. All notes are reviewed by the OT and submitted within 48 hours. Also prepares periodic summary reports.
- Together with the OT, instructs the patient and family, assists in teaching them exercise programs.
