Job Summary:

The Nurse Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the nursing staff and healthcare professionals by delivering high-quality care to our patients. This role involves assisting with daily activities, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, and contributing to each patient's overall treatment and recovery plans. The ideal candidate will possess empathy, patience, and a strong desire to support individuals in their mental health journey.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Patient Care:

a. Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, dressing, grooming, and meals, while promoting independence and dignity.

b. Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a positive and trusting relationship.

B. Monitoring and Reporting:

a. Regularly monitor patients and promptly report any changes in physical or mental condition to the nursing staff.

b. Record and maintain accurate patient records, documenting care provided and patient responses.

C. Safety and Environment:

a. Ensure a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment by adhering to health and safety protocols.

b. Assist in the prevention of patient harm by following all safety guidelines and engaging in crisis prevention techniques.

D. Therapeutic Support:

a. Participate in and encourage patient engagement in therapeutic activities, such as recreational therapy, group activities, and social skills development.

b. Support the implementation of individualized care plans under the direction of licensed nursing staff and mental health professionals.

E. Team Collaboration:

a. Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care and treatment planning.

b. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Certification as an STNA, Nurse Aide (CNA) or similar credential is highly preferred.

· Previous experience working in a mental health or healthcare setting is advantageous.

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and observational skills.

· Demonstrated compassion, patience, and the ability to maintain professionalism in challenging situations.

· Basic understanding of mental health conditions, treatments, and patient care protocols.

· Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and manage multiple tasks.

Working Conditions:

· Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet patient care needs.

· Physical requirements include standing, walking, and lifting patients, or objects up to 50 pounds.

· Exposure to various patient care situations, which may involve dealing with patients experiencing acute mental health episodes.
