Requirements & Skills:
- Ability to set up, measure and perform inspections based upon GD&T.
- Qualification requirements include a Layout Inspector card, or Journeyman Tool and Die Maker card or eight (8) years of bona fide layout or tool-maker experience.
- experience with CMM or Faro technologies,
- ability to use hand tools
- working knowledge of optical comparator.
- Strong math and Microsoft Excel experience a plus.
- CNC machining a plus.

Primary Duties Include:
Primary responsibilities include measuring parts, fixtures, assembly aids etc., provided by Engineers to analyze and discuss results. Provide ongoing weekly, monthly layouts of items such, but not limited to, chassis body mounts and body dimensional on raw body. In addition, may be trained and required to keep the layout area clean and orderly while ensuring all tools and equipment maintain their calibrations.
May be trained and required to perform additional responsibilities to include fabrication, repair, recondition, and modification of production tooling, drill fixtures, and gauges. May make new parts to replace worn or broken parts (excluding work normally done by other skilled trades); load and operate all production equipment to verify all modifications and adjustments are correct; dismantle and repair broken, worn, or faulty tooling and reassemble; fabricate specialty tools as required by production; layout parts for repair and machining; assist layout and setup of fixtures integrated with production machines; replace or repair shims, locator pads, clamp pads, hand-applied fixtures, drill bushings, and hole locators; fabricate gauges as needed for production and inspection.
May be trained and required to check all gauges and fixtures to blueprint dimensions. Must be able to repair and check dial indicator gauges, torque wrenches, gauge block, etc. Must be able to make gauges, templates, and fixtures to use for production and inspection and train to maintain the electronic calibration system.
