PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise a team of purchasing professionals and provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback
- Program Manages and leads day-to-day activities while acting as the interface between the SCM team and senior management
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors based on their capabilities, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and quality of goods
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering collaborative partnerships
- Performs and documents complex cost and price analyses to ensure fair and reasonable price determination utilizing robust purchasing process
- Works with team members to ensure contract files are complete and satisfy Government/Customer requirements to maintain SCM's approved Cost Estimating and Purchasing Systems
- Understands, analyzes, and communicates cost and supplier data in a Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)/Government environment
- Drives achievement of deliverables through execution of a team-oriented approach, targeting effective resource management and leveraging team member strengths and weaknesses to achieve optimal team performance
- Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member the expectations
- Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices for products, processes, and supply chain strategies
- Continuously monitor market trends, industry developments, and technological advancements to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and legal, to ensure seamless integration and coordination of purchasing activities
- Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of value capture initiatives and track progress towards financial goals
- Lead or support business case development for strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and new market entry
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and internal teams, to identify opportunities for collaboration and value creation
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent required (CPSM/CPM certification preferred)
- 3 years of professional military/government purchasing experience preferred
- 1 years managerial and employee development experience
- Demonstrated performance in working with and leading cross functional teams
- Demonstrated performance in purchasing, commodity management and strategic sourcing
- Analytical thinking, negotiating, and problem-solving skills required
- Strong skills required in communication, presentation, analysis, team rapport with the ability to be flexible and adapt to change
- Exceptional organizational skills with a proactive and self-empowered approach
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on efficiency and productivity
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, fostering collaboration
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and achieve meaningful results through creative problem-solving
- Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously while supporting team success
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities, with a focus on inspiring and empowering others
- Practical experience with SAP systems and a commitment to continuous learning
PHYSICAL EFFORT
- Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Physical Location: This position operates between an office and manufacturing plant environment and is often assigned to a specific shift or hours. The Employee must be able to perform job functions in an environment with varying difficult work conditions such as extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, at heights, and/or while exposed to constant/intermittent loud noises
- Teamwork: This position will work with others to ensure efficiency in the workplace
- Listening Skills: This position will need to understand how to use machinery properly and safely to prevent accidents and ensure all tasks are completed accurately
- Ability to follow instructions: Managers assign tasks and responsibilities, which vary; this position should be able to follow instructions competently
- Methodical approach: Production lines follow a set process, so this position needs a methodical approach to ensure all tasks are completed in the correct order for a smooth-running production line
- Concentration: This position may perform the same or similar tasks repeatedly, so a strong level of concentration when carrying out these tasks is important for quality control purposes. This role is often fast paced, so being able to maintain focus at all times is important
