Industrial Hygienist - Entry Level Science Majors

POSITION DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

AM Health and Safety, Inc., a professional health, safety and environmental consulting company based in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking industrial hygienists with 0 to 2 years of experience in industrial hygiene to work under the direct supervision and mentoring of a Board Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). Persons in this position will conduct industrial hygiene services for clients requiring application of engineering principles and technology to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and diseases. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting plant or area surveys to determine exposures to materials or conditions such as noise, dusts, fumes, vapors, mists, gases, solvents and temperatures which are known or suspected of being real or potential health hazards
• Conducting ventilation surveys
• Implementing or recommending control measures of exposure to hazardous materials or conditions
• Preparing professional survey reports for provided services
• Establishing and developing client relationships
• Possible opportunities to participate in the presentation of safety and health training

Candidates must have:

• Good problem-solving as well as technical and analytical skills
• Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Excel and Word applications
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Good organizational and time management skills.

Job requires up to 50% travel with a combination of day trips and overnight stays. On occasion, weekend work is needed.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. Degree in Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent degrees in related sciences (e.g. Environmental Health, Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, etc.) and a willingness to learn and apply industrial hygiene principles at client facilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
