Laboratory Technician

AM PM Staffing Services is looking for a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team for a client in Garyville, LA.

This is a temp assignment expected to last around 6 -9 months.

JOB SUMMARY
The Shift Laboratory Technician position is responsible for performing all routine testing of process and finished product samples using lab instruments and equipment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform all routine testing of process material and finished product samples using lab instruments and equipment
• Perform analysis of internal standards to monitor and maintain calibration status of lab instruments
• Perform non-routine analysis of samples to help resolve customer complaints and troubleshoot process/production issues
• Enter and record data accurately
• Additional duties and tasks as determined by management

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s degree or equivalent
• Must be willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call as needed
• Must be familiar with and be able to wear proper PPE
• Must be willing and able to safely, effectively and efficiently carry out written and verbal job-related instructions, and adhere to all company policies and procedures
• Must have working knowledge of personal computers utilizing Microsoft Office applications
• Must possess knowledge of the chemical hazards of the process unit and all logic associated with the safe operation of equipment as dictated by the area of operation
• Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Chemistry or Science-related Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
• 0 – 2 years of lab experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Previous experience in a polymer lab

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be have the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job which are: frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

PAY RATE: $30/hour paid weekly

Rotating 12 hour shifts (6AM – 6PM) (6PM – 6AM)
Monday - Sunday
