Job Overview
AM PM Staffing Services is seeking skilled structural fitters to join our dynamic team for our client's fabrication shop in Lafayette. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling and fabricating metal components according to specifications to build platforms for the rice industry. This role requires a strong understanding of various fitting techniques, reading and interpreting blueprints, and the ability to work with precision tools and machinery. The Fitter will play a crucial role in ensuring that all components meet quality standards and are completed in a timely manner.
**This is a longer term position.**
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine the appropriate assembly processes.
- Utilize hand tools and machinery, including micrometers, calipers, and press brake machines, to fabricate and assemble components.
- Perform soldering, stick welding, and FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) as needed for assembly tasks.
- Inspect finished products for accuracy and quality, making adjustments as necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools and machinery relevant to fitting tasks.
- Must be able to use torch
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform precise measurements using micrometers and calipers.
- Knowledge of soldering techniques and stick welding practices.
- Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
