Summary:
We are looking for a qualified resource to support Civil Engineering responsibilities for a client of ours in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. Ideal candidates should have previous experience with the design, planning, construction, and supervision of concrete or steel framing building structural design, support-of-excavation and foundation system design, steel or concrete rebar shop drawing design, construction support design and field inspection.
This position would require onsite support.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate structural steel design including building and foundation elements.
- Designing and engineering various structures.
- Monitor execution of works such as excavation, concreting, and masonry.
- Ensure construction techniques and procedures align with safety standards.
- Verify materials used meet quality requirements.
- Inspect formwork, reinforcement, and concrete placements.
- Consult with and provide guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and structural repairs.
- Use design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs; plan and design other necessary and related systems and structures.
- Assess strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel by testing materials and soil.
- Plan projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
- Collaborate with architects and contractors to ensure projects progress properly.
- Collaborate with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
- 7 years of relevant experience supporting construction and industrial environments.
- P.E. License preferred.
- Experience with RISA-3D, RAM Advanse/Elements, CASTA, MBS, or similar Structural Engineering software a plus.
- Specialization in structural and foundational building design is desired.
- Strong technical and analytical aptitude, willingness, and ability to research and learn complex topics with minimal guidance.
- Review and check structural drawings for completeness and accuracy.
- Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
- Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software.
- Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and other related structures.
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and/or evidence of exceptional experience.
