What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Corporate Accountant, Tax position at Amacon?
Position Summary
The successful candidate will be largely responsible for the preparation and review of tax compliance requirements for the Amacon group, which is comprised of a large number of corporate and partnership entities in Canada and the United States. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Manager, Tax, and work closely with the Corporate Accounting team and Operations team.
Position Responsibilities
Taxation:
- Prepare and review corporate tax returns, partnership returns, GST returns and T5 returns of varying complexity
- Prepare internal tax working papers and supporting documentation, ranging from provisions to dividend planning
- Prepare monthly tax reporting summary and approvals for management’s review
- Oversee filing of tax returns and tracking tax filing deadlines
- Prepare and coordinating payments for taxes due on filing, tax instalments and other payments
- Analyze, forecast, and prepare quarterly tax instalment remittances across various entities
- Forecast cash flow needs for development projects and other tax related items
- Execute on tax strategies and preparing necessary tax election forms as needed, ensuring that legal and accounting records are accurate to the plan
- Prepare financial statements and working paper package for external advisors, and any following responses
- Assist with compilation of working paper support for CRA audit requests relating to income taxes and excise tax filings
- Ad hoc tax tasks as required
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience: 3-4 years of related tax and/or financial reporting experience
- Education: Post-secondary diploma and is working towards, or has, a CPA designation
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Detailed oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Flexible and positive attitude, with the ability to work well independently, and as part of a team
- Experience in the real estate industry, Taxprep, Yardi and/or CaseWare is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook
