Job Description:
We are seeking an Associate Teacher to assist teachers in planning and implementing a comprehensive State Preschool/Head Start/Early Head Start classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with classroom activities using developmental appropriate child guidance techniques
- Help plan weekly lesson plans that reflect mandated elements per Head Start and State Standards
- Provide a consistent schedule including small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, and skill development
- Observe and record each child's progress on a regular basis
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the classroom and on the playground
- Work with parents and community volunteers to promote parental involvement
Requirements:
- Associate Teacher I: 12 college units in Child Development or working toward an AS/AA degree in Early Childhood Education
- Associate Teacher II: A.A./A.S. degree, 24 college units in ECE/Child Development, or working toward a BS/BA degree in Early Childhood Education
- 50 days of 3 hours per day working with children within the past 2 years
- Pass a full background check/health screening
- Ability to lift 40 pounds and have reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a Head Start preschool or infant toddler setting
- Current CPR and First Aid certificates
- Associate Teacher or higher Children's Center Permit or a Child Development Associate Credential
- The ability to speak and understand Spanish
- Computer experience
