Responsibilities
- Direct factory human resources and employment activities.
- Coordinate and respond to employee and union grievances, including conducting investigations, interviews, and drafting second-step responses.
- Administer and ensure compliance to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Company and the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers International Union.
- Establish and maintain business relationships with local labor agencies.
- Interview job applicants, check personal qualifications against job requirements, refer applicants to supervisory personnel for interviews and approval, and facilitate employee orientation.
- Partner with factory management to advise on all personnel and employment issues.
- Maintain good public relations status with local civic organizations and businesspeople within the community regarding personnel issues.
- Maintain Affirmative Action programs on the local level.
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvement.
- Evaluate reports and results of factory hiring practices in relation to established goals.
- Supervise Human Resource staff.
- Develop and administer annual employee training.
- Work with District Safety Manager on Safety Department issues and any resulting discipline.
- Possess a strong working knowledge of state and federal laws affecting employment, labor law, and human resources.
- Administer Company policies and procedures.
- Communicate orally and in writing. Read and understand oral and written policies, safety, and environmental requirements and other company policies.
- Travel to meetings, conferences, and other factory or community locations.
- Ability to be available for plant or employee issues at all hours of the day.
- Perform other related duties as required.
