What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audiovisual Engineer position at Amalie Arena?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, install, operate, and maintain audiovisual systems that support events and business operations at VSG venues (including Amalie Arena, Embarc Collective, Sparkman Wharf, and others)
- Design, install, maintain and operate mission critical sound reinforcement systems including in-bowl and exterior speaker systems at Amalie Arena, as well as conference rooms, press rooms, bandshells, and other systems at VSG operated venues throughout Tampa Bay
- Document audiovisual systems using standardized System Block Diagrams
- Maintain accurate inventories of audiovisual equipment possessed by VSG
- Run cabling to support AV systems (low voltage wire, CAT cable, XLR, etc) for permanent installation as well as for temporary events
- Operate Allen and Heath Qu, Sq, AHM, and D-live mixing platforms for live events
- Operate Motion Labs chain hoist system for repositioning Amalie Arena in-bowl speaker arrays as needed for maintenance, storage, and operation
- Create, maintain, and operate designs on Q-SYS platform for audiovisual distribution in venues
- Operate Dante Controller to facilitate audio over IP distribution in venues
- Coordinate and maintain comms distribution using Riedel Artist/Bolero systems
- Coordinate with touring shows and in-house events to adhere to ADA standards
- Cooperate with RF coordinators to ensure venue audiovisual RF systems operate within proper RF bands to ensure optimal performance
- Monitor sound pressure levels to maintain levels consistent with governmental guidelines and audience comfort
- Transport, install, and operate audiovisual reinforcement systems to support live events throughout Tampa Bay area
QUALIFICATIONS
- Four-year college diploma or university degree in related field (theater production, communications, audio engineering, etc) OR 3 years of experience in audiovisual installation/operation
- 5 years of experience mixing audio for live events
- Must be able to properly wrap and store audiovisual cabling
- Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Deep understanding of professional/commercial audio and visual equipment and systems
- Experience with cable termination (XLR, RJ45, AES, triaxial cabling)
- 2 years of experience with audio distribution using IP networks (Dante, MADI, AVB)
- Familiarity with AVIXA standards for AV (CTS certification is preferred)
- Familiarity with IT networking terminology and operations
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on the changing priorities of the department
- Able to work home games and events including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
- Able to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, bending and lifting. This position must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work comfortably at heights using man lifts, ladders, truss ladders or catwalks
- Strong attention to detail, excellent planning skills and ability to meet deadlines
