Amani Public Charter School has been a pillar of educational excellence in Mount Vernon since 2010. Our mission is to provide students with the academic skills and character development needed to thrive in competitive high school programs, college, and beyond. As we expand to include elementary grades while continuing to serve our middle school scholars, we are seeking a dedicated English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher to support our multilingual students.

The Role
The part-time ELL Teacher will play a vital role in supporting the language development and academic success of our English Language Learners in both elementary and middle school grades. You will work closely with students, families, and staff to create an inclusive learning environment that fosters language acquisition and academic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons to support English language development in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Provide both small group and one-on-one instruction tailored to meet the needs of ELL students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support language acquisition across content areas.
- Assess and monitor students' progress using formative and summative assessments, adjusting instruction as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular feedback to families and administrators.
- Participate in relevant professional development and team meetings to enhance your practice and contribute to the school’s ELL program.
Schedule and Location
- Part-time schedule to be determined based on student needs and school hours.
- On-site role in Mount Vernon, NY.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
- NYS TESOL/ESL Certification preferred but not required.
- Experience working with English Language Learners at the elementary and/or middle school levels.
- Familiarity with research-based strategies for ELL instruction.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Google Classroom.
- Commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
