The Role
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Physical Education Teacher to deliver high-quality, engaging PE instruction to elementary and middle school students. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop physical skills, maintain healthy habits, and understand the value of teamwork and sportsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons for elementary and middle school students.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment that encourages active participation and positive attitudes towards physical activity.
- Promote teamwork, respect, and good sportsmanship during activities and games.
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students with varying physical abilities.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to students and families.
- Collaborate with other staff members to support schoolwide events and activities.
- Maintain equipment and ensure the gymnasium or outdoor spaces are safe and well-organized.
Schedule and Location
- Part-time schedule to be determined based on school needs and availability.
- On-site role in Mount Vernon, NY.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- NYS Teaching Certification in Physical Education preferred but not required.
- Previous experience teaching PE to elementary and/or middle school students is a plus.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
