Job Title: Mental Health Counselor- MHC-LP Job

Hours: Full-Time / Part-Time Hours Available

Salary: $40 - $70 an hour (Hourly, based on experience)

Amar Husain Mental Health Counseling Group is looking to hire curious, inquisitive, and compassionate individuals with outstanding interpersonal skills to join our team as a Therapist. The successful candidate will be interested in learning about the intersectionality of trauma and systematic oppression, its impact on individuals and communities, and the role of the therapist in facilitating the healing process that addresses the issue from its roots.

Who I am:

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 15 years of experience working in the field of trauma and mental health. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Birzeit University in Palestine and my Graduate Degree in Mental Health and Counseling from New York University. In addition, I completed a two-year Trauma Studies program at the Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis. My work focuses on looking at Western therapy from a critical lens and being curious about indigenous healing methods. My work is also informed by Sufi Psychology and understanding how Islam and Sufism can be agents of healing.

In addition, my work is focused on helping clients live fuller and more meaningful lives by helping them clarify their life purpose while understanding that their suffering, pain, and ability to lead thriving lives do not exist in isolation of systematic oppression.

Who You Are:

• Mental Health Counselor Limited Permit (MHC-LP)
• New graduates who are interested in learning and being mentored on providing therapy and care that uplifts people and their communities.
• Passionate and curious.
• Interest in learning about the intersectionality of trauma and systematic oppression.
• Interested in earning their hours and learning the skills needed to start their own practice.
• Arabic-speaking.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct 30 min consultations
• Make accurate assessments
• Conduct one-on-one individual sessions with clients
• Attend weekly supervision
• Attend monthly group supervision
• Option to attend and assist with monthly film screenings in Brooklyn
• Complete assigned readings
• Become familiar with resources/referrals available for clients in NYC
