Primary Purpose:
In cooperation with the Director and other service-area coordinators, the Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction will support and lead the C&I team.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
- Master’s degree required
- Texas teaching certification required
- Texas principal certification preferred
Skills
- Successful district-level (e.g., central office) experience preferred
- Successful building principal or assistant principal experience preferred
- Successful Instructional leadership experience required
- Successful classroom teaching experience required
- Possesses a deep knowledge of curriculum and instruction, including instructional technology
- Proven ability to contribute to a team of experienced, talented, and highly skilled professionals
- Experience leading successful campus and/or district school improvement initiatives activities (i.e., including site-based processes, writing campus/district-improvement plans, budgeting, organizing turnaround teams, and state/federal reporting) preferred
- Experience utilizing student achievement (e.g., state and locally developed assessment data) and teacher instructional data (e.g., classroom walkthrough, instructional rounds), to inform campus and/or district instructional planning, evaluation, and professional development required
- Exemplary communication and customer service skills required
- Experience conducting professional development required
- Experience managing state and federal grants preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervises and evaluates Curriculum and Instruction personnel and oversees processes and approvals to grow programs and personnel
- Assists the director in budgeting, program planning, and program/staff evaluation
- Serves as a project manager of various initiatives within the curriculum and instruction department
- Provides effective, research-based instructional support and communicates with districts, campuses, charter schools, TEA, and ESCs to provide effective, research-based technical assistance to improve student performance
- Collaborates with the Coordinator of School Improvement and SI team as a point of contact on the Regional Wrap Around Team for low-performing schools
- Communicates with districts, campuses, charter schools, TEA, and ESCs to provide effective, research-based technical assistance and systemic processes to improve student performance
- Provides content, best practices and pedagogical expertise in technical assistance and professional development to support improvement of instructional practices for monitoring and evaluating student learning
- Collaborates with colleagues in and beyond the ESC to identify professional development needs through detailed data analysis and self-reflection to provide quality services to customers that positively impact student learning
- Sets, modifies, and meets short- and long-term professional goals based on self-assessment, reflection, peer and supervisor feedback, contemporary research, and analysis of student learning
- Manages a state or federal grant, if applicable, and follows all guidelines and timelines outlined in the grant
- Travels as a part of job responsibilities
