What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Programs position at Amarillo Children's Home?
Position Summary: The Director of Programs is focused on creating excellence in the methods and approaches that ACH uses to achieve successful outcomes for the children it serves. This focus includes maintaining a comprehensive understanding of children’s needs and an awareness of new approaches that may benefit children. The Director of Programs is a member of the leadership team of ACH, participates in ACH’s strategic vision and implementation process, and is involved in performance quality reviews regarding outcome data for ACH. Additionally, the person in this role maintains knowledge of state and accreditation standards. The Director of Operations is charged with directing the programmatic operation of Amarillo Children’s Home with the utmost of Christ-centered love, care and integrity. She/he will ensure a safe environment and the well-being of each resident at the Home. The Director of Programs will work closely with the Executive Director, the Board of Trustees and other administrative staff.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee implementation of an evidence informed treatment model program and trauma informed care for all youth.
- Initiate and facilitate improvement in various aspects of ACH and, as needed, initiate new projects in conjunction with the ACH strategic direction.
- Consult with the Home Life Supervisor, Case Manager, and Treatment Director on overall youth treatment strategies.
- Ensure effective implementation by Direct Care staff of the programs related to youth in care.
- Exhibit initiative and skills in benchmarking, researching, creating and tracking existing and new aspects of ACH.
- Make recommendations regarding termination of youth from the Home.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Work together with the Treatment Director to review the child’s goals and services as shown in the most recent CANS 3.0 Assessment to ensure they align with the child’s custom strengths, needs, and permanency plan.
- Collaborate with the Treatment Director to provide written confirmation that the child, youth, or young adult continues to meet criteria for, and is benefitting from the ACH Evidence-informed Treatment Model offered through the program.
- Provides written confirmation of findings in the case record for each child and submits reports to all agencies including the SSCC or DFPS as appropriate in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Responsible for creating and managing the operating budget for program services and staff.
- Participates in overall cost containment through resource management.
- Demonstrate an ability to work independently and to maintain regular communication with the Executive Director regarding program status.
- Serve as an on-call supervisor on a rotating basis to assist Direct Care staff during weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.
- Develop campus community and create a culture of campus support.
- Develop annual programs calendar of events.
- Participate in ACH leadership and strategic planning.
- Supervise the Maintenance Manager to ensure that the facilities are well-maintained including preventative maintenance, and that adequate safety policies and procedures are in place;, in the absence of the Maintenance Manager, serve as a back-up resource along with On-Call Supervisory staff to coordinate emergency repairs as needed for all campus property and equipment.

Education, Training and Experience:
· Position requires a bachelor’s degree.
· Administration and/or group home/foster care experience required, (with at least five years of experience preferred).
· Prior supervisory experience.
· Exceptional skills in communication, both written and verbal.
· Exceptional skills in project development and project management.
· Must be a physically, mentally and emotionally healthy adult with the knowledge, skills and ability to do the tasks in the job description, and have no health or behavioral issues that present a danger to children in care (per TDFPS Minimum Standards for General Residential Operations, Sec. 748.505)
· Must have no disqualifying criminal history; must be willing to submit to a thorough criminal and background check that includes submitting to an FBI fingerprint check
· Must submit to and pass a drug test
· Must submit to a tb test and be free from active tuberculosis
· Is of a moral character and a child advocate.
