This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Faculty Coordinator - Automotive/Diesel/Collision who will be all-in on our mission and who will teach courses in the assigned discipline as well as oversee day-to-day operations of the three related programs – Automotive, Diesel and Collision.
Qualifications
Required: Associate Degree in Automotive Technology, or related field.
- Work experience and professional certifications may substitute for education requirements.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Technology, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three (3) or more years of work experience in business and industry.
Preferred: Experience teaching secondary or post-secondary level.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:
Preferred: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Tech, ASE G-1, and ASE A Series Certifications. Certifications must be completed prior to teaching courses.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform effective teaching activities, including classroom instruction, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research and internships.
- Plan, develop and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students before/after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Evaluate students to measure their progress.
- Design and implement assessments to measure student learning outcomes.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with ASE and ICar accreditation standards, including timely submission of required documentation and continuous quality improvement.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
- Participate in course and curriculum development, revision and evaluation.
- Proactively seek and cultivate dual credit partnerships with local high schools to expand program offerings and opportunities for students.
- Actively recruit and hire qualified faculty, part-time instructors, and subject matter experts to maintain high standards of instruction and program quality.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve curriculum for Automotive, Diesel, and Auto Collision Programs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and student needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all program activities, including student performance, equipment inventory, and accreditation documentation.
- Perform regular evaluations of instructors and classes at designated intervals, using feedback to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning
- Collaborate in the preparation and monitoring of program budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and efficient allocation of resources.
- Manage the daily operations, including the hiring, training, evaluation, and professional development of all team members, supplemental, adjunct instructors, and program staff.
- Manage TDCJ programs to ensure compliance with accreditation standards"
- Submit college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Perform other work-related duties as required.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
