This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next First Year Experience Program Facilitator who will be all-in on our mission and who will play a pivotal role in managing course programs and fostering student success within the First-Year Experience department. This position requires exceptional organizational, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to oversee program operations efficiently. The role supports and assists instructors, ensuring effective learning outcomes, active student engagement, and the development of students’ educational and career goals.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communication, Psychology, or a related field.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Education, Communication, Psychology, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two (2) years or more of teaching experience in a classroom.
Preferred:
- Experience in higher education, teaching, or student success programming.
- Experience preparing and distributing program-related materials and communications.
- Experience in record-keeping and data collection.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive first-year experience program, including training, student activities, and data collection.
- Instruct six (6) sections of EDUC 1100 (Learning Frameworks) per academic year under the supervision of the FYE Director.
- Participate in annual EDUC 1100 professional development opportunities, including training sessions, update meetings, and course evaluation.
- Facilitate workshops or provide materials to support instructors in delivering engaging and effective EDUC 1100 courses.
- Distribute communication to instructors and students, including training materials, teaching resources, surveys, and evaluations.
- Support outreach and marketing strategies to increase awareness and participation in FYE initiatives and programs.
- Address and resolve student concerns, including academic and classroom-related challenges, ensuring a supportive learning environment.
- Evaluate alternative credit eligibility, prepare and submit related correspondence, and update records within the student engagement system.
- Foster a welcoming community for instructors, students, and peer mentors.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and departmental offices to support program and course needs.
- Analyze program review data, course success metrics, and retention efforts to inform improvements.
- Collaborate with and support Academic Learning & Services initiatives focused on student success, particularly for first-year students, but not limited to them.
- Collaborate with campus departments to support student success.
- Engage in campus activities, programs, and events as assigned.
- Perform other work-related duties as required.

- Proficiency in educational technology tools, learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard), and student data management platforms.
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student success and aligns with institutional goals.
- Understanding of FERPA regulations and their relevance to student records and interactions.
Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.
Pay grade 12 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and must be able to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Working Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines. Classroom location assignment may vary. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
