Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient service and administrative support within our clinic. Amarillo Stat Care is a healthcare facility that provides both Primary and Urgent Care.
Responsibilities
- Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and reason for visit.
- Measure, record and document vital signs.
- Perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.
- Perform EKGs as directed by the provider.
- Prepare and administer medications and immunizations
- Demonstrated ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures.
- Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a deadline-oriented manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application.
- Answer patient phone calls
- Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal, medical and financial information per HIPAA.
Qualifications
- Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification or eligible to obtain national Medical Assistant Certification within the first 90 days of employment.
- Current CPR and or BLS certification or the ability to attain the certification within 90 days of employment.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate care.
- Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining attention to detail in a busy environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and improving patient experiences.
